This will be the third in our series of workshops designed to gather together the community of partners actively involved in the work of accelerating the transition of cities to a low carbon resilient economy.

Workshop Objectives

  • to share the progress being made across our portfolio of innovation projects, flagships, and strategic initiatives
  • to connect partners and introduce new organisations into the community
  • to explore significant opportunities for innovative breakthroughs at scale across our C-KIC Thematic-Priorities 2017

Join over one hundred professionals from across Europe working for municipal authorities, private sector corporations, start-ups, SMEs, academics, research and civil society institutions.

Wednesday, 17 May

Evening:

Welcome networking reception

Thursday, 18 May

Morning:

  • Opportunities and Challenges for the urban transformation of Bologna: drivers and challenges today and for the future
  • Smart Sustainable Districts – progress: briefing on progress being made across the districts, key outcomes, and future plans
  • Smart Sustainable Districts – need for innovation: three breakout groups will each focus on one specific district there the need for innovative solutions have been identified.

Afternoon:

  • Solving City Challenges with the help of data: three cities present a key challenge or opportunity that they are facing
  • Parallel sessions on: Retrofitting, Behaviour Change, Nature Based Solutions

Friday, 19 May

Morning:

  • Growing the scope and scale of our impact globally in alliance with C40 Cities, WBCSD, ICLEI
  • Low Carbon Financing. Working together to deliver pipelines of projects to access funds.
  • Funding for innovation: Exploring collaboration for H2020, UIA, foundations, and revenue generation activities.

Afternoon:

What defines and enables a “Zero Waste” Municipality? : best practices and innovative solutions that contribute to the goals of reducing waste generation.

This will be a special joint session with the Climate-KIC theme Sustainable Production Systems (SPS)
